The Conway Alliance for the Arts (CAFTA) was founded in 2006, when Dr. Rollin Potter, former Dean of Fine Arts and Communication at the University of Central Arkansas, began inviting arts faculty and administrators from UCA, Hendrix College, and Central Baptist College to regular lunches. Together, they came up with the idea to establish a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing together the art community in Conway, Arkansas
The mission of CAFTA is to promote the arts in Conway under a unified forum. Our goal is to one day have a facility that can house all community arts organizations for use in artistic performance, exhibition, and education.
Throughout the years, we have built relationships and formed partnerships with other art organizations, schools, local artists, grantors, and donors. By doing so, we have stayed true to our mission to unite the community with the purpose of celebrating the arts, and with the support of the community, we have been able to expand our vision.
Annually, we host two events that showcase local art and talent. The Arts Awards ceremony is held in the spring. Nominees are local artists whose work be recognized for their work in selected categories. In the fall, we host ArtsFest, a family-friendly festival dedicated to celebrating the arts in all forms. The festival features local vendors, performances, and artist demonstrations, including performances and work by renowned artists brought funded by grants and sponsors.
