7:45-8:05 p.m. “AQurld Waves at the Water about Us" features the percussion group “HEARding Cats Collective,” who have developed instruments meant to be played and heard underwater, and movement artists Core Dance, who will be performing both poolside and in the water at UCA’s HPER Center. This once-in-a-lifetime event will bring together music, dance, video, and poetic performance to invite audiences to consider how water influences and can alter our everyday life, represents how our common reliance on it binds us together, and that our relationship to water is the source for stories about how we exist.
Participants may choose between in-pool and poolside "seats" by reserving their FREE TICKETS at: https://goo.gl/forms/xIgqHBEkouFkFB0j1.
The Hearding Cats Artists Collective is a 501(c)(3) corporation, incorporated in the state of Missouri U.S.A. in 2009. It is a not-for profit corporation devoted to producing artistic events primarily in the city of St. Louis. It was founded on 11/11/2009 by husband and wife team, Rich O’Donnell and Anna Lum, along with Mike Murphy and Ryan Harris.
Rich and Anna had a combined 80 years of experience administering the St. Louis New Music Circle when they established Hearding Cats.
Their zeitgeist permeates the policies and methods of the Collective. These necessarily evolve in the ceaselessly changing cultural environment. But the core values of the collective are:
- Respect for the fundamental value of art to all societies.
- Recognition that art needs innovation and experimentation to remain vital. This means we support art that is ignored by traditional, commercial, and popular institutions.
- Support for the educational role of the artist.
Core Dance envisions that dance as art-making is an essential element of the fabric of our human experience, connecting us to each other. Core Dance values purposeful artistic risk taking, invention, community participation, led collaboration, knowledge sharing and enquiry carried out with integrity, compassion and an attention to balance between human resources, financial resources and activity level to amplify the quality of our work and the health of our organization. Core Dance, a contemporary dance organization, creates, performs, and produces compelling original dance that ignites the creative spirit and actively encourages participation and conversation by and with the community.Creating a context for dance that is relevant in both our home cities and around the globe, Core Dance uses dance to illuminate, educate and question. In essence, Core Dance is an artistic incubator and convener.
