Summertime Gin in concert

The Faulkner County Library welcomes Summertime Gin to the library on Friday, March 20 at 7:00 PM.  The group will also perform at the Mount Vernon branch library on Saturday, March 21 at 2:00 PM.

Sylvia and Gary Summers have played jazz together since 2003, and in 2012, they formed “Summertime Gin”.    Sylvia has advanced degrees in music education and has taught instrumental and choral music in several Arkansas school districts.  She is presently teaching elementary music, band, and choir in the Mt. Vernon-Enola School District.  Gary Summers is the drummer for the group, and also plays drums at New Hope Baptist Church.  He has played in area rock, gospel, and jazz groups since he was a teen.

Vocalist Dean “Doc” Cato has performed from Carnegie Hall to The Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, and sang for ten years with the Glen Dorsey Orchestra.

Bill White has a degree in music education.  He is the keyboard artist for the group, and also plays with Farris Holliman and the Rhythm Masters, and is the pianist at the Cross Bar C Cowboy Church in Benton.
