NEW UCA WRITING PROFESSORS TO HOLD ARTSFEST READING

CONWAY — As part of the Conway Alliance for the Arts’ annual ArtsFest celebration, the newest faculty members in the University of Central Arkansas Department of Writing, will share their work in a reading hosted by the Faulkner County Library.
Sandy Longhorn and Jennie Case will read at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1.
Longhorn’s most recent book, The Alchemy of My Mortal Form, won the 2014 Louise Bogan Award from Trio House Press, and she teaches creative writing. She additionally co-edits the online journal HeronTree. Case, who teaches creative and professional writing, has appeared in many journals, includingNorth American Review, Zone 3, English Journal, and Poet Lore. Her appearance in Stone Canoe received the 2014 Allen and Nirelle Galson Prize in Fiction, and she is assistant nonfiction editor of terrain.org.
“The UCA Writing Department is pleased to continue its participation in ArtsFest this year and to partner once again with the Faulkner County Library,” said Carey Clark, interim chair of the UCA Department of Writing. “We are excited to have Jennie Case and Sandy Longhorn join our department, and we look forward to an evening of lively words with our thriving artistic community.”
Faulkner Country Library is located at 1900 West Tyler St. in Conway. The event is free, open to the public, and appropriate for all audiences.
